Over 250 orphans are not able to return to LNR from Odessa

Over 250 orphans are not able to return to LNR from Odessa, where they were sent to spend the summer of 2014. This was stated on Tuesday the Commissioner for children's rights people's Republic of Lugansk Yulia Nazarenko. We are talking about children-orphans and children deprived of parental care.

272 children were sent from the LPR to Odessa last summer. Of these, only two pupils were able to return to the Republic on my own. "We were trying to return from Odessa children who were taken away during the war for recovery. Today, the Ukraine refuses to hand over the children," Nazarenko quoted Lugansk information center. She said that guardians of the children are heads of orphanages and boarding schools of the LC. All their documents are in the territory of the Republic, and the children themselves — in Ukraine.

To contact the Ukrainian side refuses to go because he believes that children should not return to the LC, despite the fact that some guys in the Republic have relatives. Many of them tried to communicate directly with the leadership of the Odessa boarding school, but she refuses to talk and sends the letters which it is impossible to understand why children do not return home, and also do not clarify their fate.

Nazarenko also said that the heads of the orphanages in Odessa could take on the functions of guardians, and after trying to give the kids up for adoption even abroad. "Some children call the Directors of orphanages, children's homes and LNR say they don't want to leave neither in Canada nor in America," she added.

Only in June 2014 in connection with the beginning of hostilities more than 450 children from orphanages of the former Luhansk region have been evacuated to Odessa. Director of Lugansk orphanage №1 Viktoria Mochalova said that Kiev returned the children to the Luhansk region, but mainly in the North, controlled by the SCU areas.
